For anyone who's working to be more true to your o For anyone who's working to be more true to your own self -- I see you!! 😘 At one point or another, we've ALL been that friend who doesn't want to rock the boat by drinking choccy milk in front of that person who has OPINIONS 😅 ... The truth about dairy is:

1️⃣ It's not bad for the environment!!

(The dairy industry is responsible for less than 2% of total GHG emissions in the U.S., but it's also a powerful nutrient-dense nutrition hack that helps nourish countless communities. Dairy will be greenhouse gas-neutral by 2050, with tons of new efforts in water management, manure management, crop management, and renewable energy going into place on farms now!)

2️⃣ Dairy cows live comfortable lives with plenty of time and space to just vibe.

(Dairy cows actually spend only around 15 minutes a day being milked, with the rest of their time being spent on their favorite activities, including resting, sleeping, eating, and socializing. Happy cows produce more milk anyways!)

3️⃣ Dairy is seriously good for you.

(First off, it's hard to beat the boost of high-quality protein, calcium, and 11 other key nutrients in real milk. Second, there's no evidence to support any wild claims that dairy 'causes cancer' or 'is bad for your heart.' In fact, there's evidence to suggest that consuming dairy can decrease your risk of certain types of cancer and even cheese can be part of a heart-healthy lifestyle!)

4️⃣ It's by no means 'unnatural' to consume milk.

(I mean, we've been consuming it for at least 10,000 years, and many of us are able to digest lactose specifically because accessing nutrient-rich dairy provided a survival advantage for our ancestors. Couldn't it just be that it's good for us? 😜 )

If someone chooses not to consume dairy, that's 100% up to them, but it's important to consider that it's hard to replace dairy while maintaining a balanced diet. As a super convenient and nutrient-dense source of all sorts of important stuff, dairy is a great way to go! So don't let anyone kill your choccy milk vibe. 🍫 🥛 You do you, okay? 🤷

1. The dairy industry accounts for less than 2% of 1. The dairy industry accounts for less than 2% of greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. It's also committed to being GHG neutral by 2050 (or sooner). Farmers are already implementing lots of on-farm innovations in manure management, crop management, water recycling, renewable energy, and more to meet this goal.

2. Dairy is a good source of high-quality protein, calcium, and 11 other essential nutrients. Real milk is a great nutrient-dense food, meaning more nutrients are packed into a smaller portion than in many other foods -- making it an easy nutrition hack! It's hard to replace in your diet, especially when most plant-based dairy alternatives can't stack up to dairy's uniquely powerful nutrient profile.
